FAQ
The questions we get most, grouped by topic. Can’t find your answer? SDK & extension troubleshooting has the symptom table, or just contact us.
Pricing & accounts
Section titled “Pricing & accounts”Do I have to pay to use BugCapturer?
No. The extension’s core features — screenshots, annotation, recording, exporting — are free to use. Creating share links requires a free account (that is what keeps your shares manageable). Paid plans are aimed at teams that need more projects, seats and longer retention.
Do recipients of a share link need an account?
No. They open the link in any modern browser — no extension, no sign-up.
How do I upgrade to Team?
Signing up includes a 14-day full-featured trial, no credit card required. When it ends, enter an activation code in the console under “Plan & billing”, or contact us. Plan comparison on the pricing page.
Feature boundaries
Section titled “Feature boundaries”How long can a recording be?
60 seconds. Trim the relevant part on the timeline so nobody has to sit through a long video.
Do the Chrome and Edge versions differ?
No — both store builds come from the same codebase. Annotation, recording, diagnostic collection and share links are identical.
What is the difference between the extension and the Web SDK?
The extension gives full capability to “your own people who can install it” (testers, QA, colleagues). The Web SDK is a widget embedded in your site so that visitors can report without installing anything. Both paths produce the same kind of report and can land in the same table — see Product overview.
What does a site need to install so visitors can report?
One <script> tag. See Web SDK quick start.
Data & retention
Section titled “Data & retention”How long are my shares kept?
Anonymous shares 30 days, signed-in 90 days, paid workspaces long-term. Expired content is deleted automatically, and you can delete any share manually at any time — see Data flow, storage & retention.
Can report URLs leak credentials?
No. Parameters such as token, key and password are replaced with *** before the report is sent — see Privacy red lines.
Do you read our website users’ cookies?
No. That is a product red line: reporter identity can only be passed in explicitly by your site, and the SDK never reads the host page’s cookies or localStorage.
Integrations
Section titled “Integrations”Which integrations are supported?
Available today: Feishu Bitable (automation webhook trigger, or a custom app) and Custom Webhook (n8n, Zapier, Make, your own systems). DingTalk, Slack, Teams, Notion and Jira are in development. Overview: Integrations overview.
How many integrations can I create?
Up to 3 per account, so different needs can go to different tables.
The report is in the app but no new row appears in the table?
Start with the delivery log; the usual causes are a missing route binding or an integration that was auto-disabled.
